Week 11
There really aren’t any huge games this week but Jacksonville home to San Diego is a pretty big one with both teams fighting to secure a play off spot. The Genie likes Jacksonville to win and cover. You’d have to look hard to find another big game this week but Seattle at home to Chicago might qualify. The Genie sees Seattle winning and covering in this one.

Week 10
Will Miami ever win, will New England ever lose? These are just two of the questions surrounding this weeks’ schedule. Indianapolis has another tough game this week after taking on New England, they venture into San Diego where the Chargers have been much more like last year’s version in recent weeks. The Genie likes Sand Diego to win and cover this week so Indy could be on its way to a second loss in a row. In another big game this week, the Giants are home to Dallas who’s only loss is to unbeaten New England. The Genie likes the Giants here to win and cover.

It will be interesting to see how New England’s offence performs against one of the top defense’s in the league. The Genie is picking Washington to cover and New England to win. Another interesting game this week is Denver at home against Green Bay, it will be interesting to see if Green Bay is for real as this is a big test going into Denver on a Monday night. The Genie is picking Green Bay to win and to cover.

Week 5
Who would have thought that after 4 weeks the following teams would have these records:
The big Week 5 games are
In this week’s Team Rankings the top three teams are Indianapolis, New England (after running up 56 points) and Arizona (Arizona??????, we’re shocked too) , with Dallas in 4th. These rankings will really help you separate the good teams from the bad and ordinary teams, the true winners from the so-so teams that only show up to play sometimes, especially as the season goes on.

Week 4
In Week 3 The Gridiron Genie went 7-9 against the spread and a stellar 11-5 straight up. Against the spread, the Genie usually tends to be about 50% but usually throws in a few gem weeks with nice enough scores to win a week or two of your pool. In Best Bets, the Genie is off to a pretty solid start going 5-2 last week and is now 11-8 on the season. Two main highlights from last week were the Genie’s picks of Green Bay and Tennessee to cover the spread and both went on to do so against the aforementioned San Diego and New Orleans. Pretty gutsy picking there!
In Week 4 the biggest games look to be Cincinnati at home against New England (the Genie likes Cincy) and the NY Giants at home to Philadelphia (the Genie likes Philly). This week should start to sort out which teams are for real and which are pretenders as up until now, it’s hard to tell how good some of the winning teams really are. (i.e. Green Bay, Houston, etc.)
In this week’s Team Rankings the top three teams are Indianapolis, Philadelphia (after running up 56 points) and Tennessee, with New England a close 4th.

Week 3
Week 2 turned out ok for The Gridiron Genie as our software went 9-7 against the spread and a stellar 10-63 straight up keeping in mind that there are some things the software can’t account for in Week’s 1 and 2 of the season as it uses statistics from the previous season to calculate its version of the spread. For instance, it has no way of knowing that Michael Vick is not playing and therefore, Atlanta is a much different team than they were last year. So keep an eye out in the first two weeks for teams that may have been very good last season but due to injuries, free agency and now, even legal issues, may have lost key players. Now it gets interesting as the software will be able to use actual stats from this season’s games to measure how good (or bad) any given team may be.
Week 3 has a few interesting games such as the Green Bay at home against San Diego. Is Green Bay as good as their record so far? Is San Diego better than they looked last week, are they team from last year? The Genie is picking GB in this one so we’ll have to wait and see. Similarily, New Orleans has looked terrible and now faces what looks to be a strong Tennessee team this Monday night with the genie picking Tennessee to win.
Our famous Team Rankings are now available, check out some of the surprises in there although we caution, with only two games under everyone’s belt, these rankings don’t mean much at this point. The good news is that these Team Rankings get better as the season goes on.

Week 2
Week 2 has a few interesting games such as the New Orleans game against Tampa. New Orleans looked absolutely horrible last week against Indianapolis and it remains to be seen if they are any closer to becoming Super Bowl contenders, something they were beginning to resemble late last year. New England against San Diego is a game we’d rather see later in the season but still, it should be a good one and interesting to see how both those teams are looking. San Diego beat the Bears pretty convincingly last week but LT was held to the least amount of rushing yards in for him in years.
As usual, our famous Team Rankings won’t be available until Week 3 as it takes 2 weeks of play for there to be enough statistical data to use to compile them. The good news is that these Team Rankings get better as the season goes on.

Week 1
But we’ve had many successes in Week 1 over the years hitting 11-4 against the spread three times since 1997 and an average of almost 10 wins straight up. Last year we went 4-12 in the first week against the spread, a terrible record but many great weeks followed.
